Wedding dresses with sleeves offer an elegant look. Our designers make gowns that have sleeves - in different lengths of coverage - to make you feel better for the time of year or to make you feel more comfortable.

Sometimes when you try on a gown with sleeves, you might find that they’re restrictive and the idea was better than the execution. That’s why it’s good to come in and try dresses on, to refine what you really want to wear on your wedding day.

When you’re shopping, be sure to try on other dresses too. We can add some sleeves in alterations to take a gown you loved without the sleeves, and, make it a gown that’s yours. That’s why working with experienced consultants who know what can and can’t be done in alterations is a reassuring move.

Please remember to consult your venue about its requirements. Some churches, for example, might not allow strapless gowns. But even if you get your gown, we can add a sleeve to suit your needs in alterations.

And there’s no need to be nervous about it. We have our shop set up so that you and your guests can sit in a semi-private area where you can try on the gowns without being seen by lots of people you don’t know.

Traditional wedding dresses - short

What’s traditional? Today lots of things go for weddings. It’s your wedding and you can break the traditional rules. Short dresses were reserved for more informal ceremonies. But if it’s the look you want, you can make the call.

Tea length and short wedding dresses are more casual. They go better in settings such as a backyard wedding, destination or beach setting or a courthouse wedding.

Others have chosen a short dress for later in the reception or when they’re leaving with the new spouse.

And just because they’re short doesn’t mean that they don’t have a designer’s touch. Many designers have limited short or tea-length wedding dresses.

There is always the option to shorten a long dress to the length you like. We have an in-house alterations team who have lots of experience with bridal gowns and making sure that the cut of the dress fits with what changes you’re trying to make to it. Sometimes, when you’re using an alterations person without experience, they can make changes that can hurt the dress and its lines. That’s why our experience counts at Uptown Bride.

Strapless dresses are feminine and elegant. They’re a standard for gowns and your wedding dress is no different.

Our designers have several different styles from ball gowns to A-lines and mermaid to sheaths. We also have several strapless gowns in stock and ready to wear for your size and budget.

Sometimes brides worry that it might get loose or they might think they’ll be insecure in them. We’ve all seen photos of women wearing strapless gowns and yanking them up periodically. But don’t worry about that. With the proper alterations, your wedding gown will feel secure from when you put it on all through the your celebrations.

Conversely, don’t shy away from trying on a strapless gown when you’re wedding dress shopping. If you love the dress, except for that strapless, we can always add sleeves (cap sleeves or straps for an easy fix) in alterations.
